Advice to women writers by Annie McClung, the mother-in-law of Nellie.

When Nellie McClung's beloved mother-in-law offered to take over the housework and the care of Nellie's children. Nellie refused saying there was too many tasks.  But Annie McClung gave the perfect answer.

"Trifles all of them," McClung quoted her saying. "If you wait until you are ready to write, you will never write. Don’t you know that conditions are never perfect? Life conspires to keep a woman tangled in trifles.

Nellie McClung always credited her mother-in-law for giving her the gift of time which allowed her to  write  two best selling novels and to continue her lifelong work for women's suffrage and women's equality.
